This document outlines the classification and lifecycle of user accounts within the ITS Private Cloud environment to ensure security, accuracy, and efficient resource management.
Account Status Definitions and Rules:
Status | Criteria | Description |
---|---|---|
Active | User account has logged in or performed activity within the last 100 days. | Account is in regular use and fully operational. |
Idle | No login or activity detected for 100 consecutive days. | Account is temporarily unused but may still be valid. |
Dormant | Account has been in "Idle" status for a continuous period of 2 years (730 days). | Account is considered abandoned and subject to review or deactivation. |
Dangling | Account does not appear in the group membership list for any group it is assigned to. | Account lacks valid group association; may indicate an orphaned or misconfigured account. |
Procedures
Monitoring: Account activity is reviewed regularly to update status based on the criteria above.
Review and Action: Dormant and Dangling accounts are subject to security review and may be disabled or removed according to ITS policy.

These guidelines are reviewed regurarly or as needed to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness.
