Problem

A Linux virtual machine boots very slowly and displays the warning: "RecordRoutingInfo: Unable to collect IPv4 routing table"

Solution

This can occur when Linux iputils causes a delay in the boot process. To resolve this:

  1. See the RedHat Advisory RHBA-2013:1290 and install the proper patch.

  2. If the virtual machine remains stuck in the boot up process, please contact VSS to apply the workaround from VMware KB Article 2048572.
